Twenty Years of Getting the Finish Right

I started in automotive detailing over two decades ago. Marine work came naturally. I've stayed a sole operator by choice.

The Darling Downs is farming and horse country, but there are also a lot of people who take their vehicles and boats seriously, and they deserve a detailer who does too. I run Highfields Auto Shine from Cabarlah, north of Toowoomba, as a sole operator. Every job is mine, start to finish. No junior staff completing what someone else started. When you book with me, you deal with me.

I pursued the System X certification because it is the right product range for clients who want their vehicles protected correctly. The certification is not a course you buy online. System X controls who applies their products because the quality of every installation carries their name. I hold that certification for Toowoomba and surrounding areas and I hold to the standard it requires.

Marine work followed naturally from automotive. Salt, UV, humidity, algae growth on gelcoat surfaces · the conditions that boats in southeast Queensland face are different from what automotive paint deals with, and the products and process need to match that. I've been doing marine detailing for as long as I've been doing automotive work, and I treat it with the same seriousness.

System X's nano-ceramic formula bonds to your clear coat at a molecular level, creating a surface that repels water, resists light scratches, and holds its gloss far longer than wax or sealant. As the only certified System X installer in the Toowoomba region, I apply the full product range under the quality controls the manufacturer requires.

Paint Correction

Machine polishing to remove swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and surface contamination before any coating goes on. Paint correction is what determines whether the finished result looks exceptional or ordinary. I assess your paint first and tell you exactly what it needs.

Marine Detailing

Salt, UV exposure, and humidity attack gelcoat and marine paint at a rate that cars never see. I detail boats and watercraft with products suited to marine surfaces, protecting your asset whether it lives on a trailer, in a shed, or in the water. Marine ceramic coating available for fibreglass and gelcoat surfaces.

Full Vehicle Detail

A complete service covering exterior wash and decontamination, machine polish, interior vacuum and surface treatment, glass and trim clean. I take the time to do each step properly rather than rushing to the next job.

Interior Detail & Sanitise

Full interior vacuum and clean, leather or fabric surface treatment, dashboard and trim dressing, door cards and console, complete glass clean inside and out. Fabric protection for upholstery and carpets available on request.

Paint Decontamination & Prep

Iron fallout, tar, industrial dust, and tree sap bond to paint over time and prevent coatings or sealants from adhering correctly. Chemical and mechanical decontamination is part of every preparation job I do before any protective product goes on. Not a shortcut step.

What is System X ceramic coating and why is it different from a wax or sealant?

System X is a professional-grade nano-ceramic coating that bonds chemically to your vehicle's clear coat. Unlike a wax or sealant that sits on top of the paint and wears off over months, a ceramic coating becomes part of the surface. The result is significantly harder protection, much greater durability (typically two to seven or more years depending on the product tier and aftercare regime), and a surface that stays cleaner between washes because contamination cannot bond as easily.

Does my paint need to be corrected before a ceramic coating?

In most cases, yes. Ceramic coating amplifies the finish underneath it, which means any swirl marks, scratches, or oxidation become more visible once the gloss is locked in. I assess your paint condition during the initial inspection and tell you exactly what it needs before we agree on the job.

How long does the full process take?

A full correction and ceramic coating typically takes one to two days depending on the condition of the paint and the product tier selected. The vehicle needs time in a controlled environment during the cure phase before I can return it. I'll confirm the exact timeline when we discuss your specific job.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

System X coatings are rated for between two and seven or more years depending on the product tier and how the vehicle is maintained after application. Unlike wax or sealant, a ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat rather than sitting on top of it, so it doesn't wash away or need topping up each season. Correct maintenance washes help it perform at its best throughout its rated life.

Do you detail boats and marine vessels?

Yes. Marine detailing has been part of my work for many years. Salt, UV exposure, and humidity affect gelcoat and marine paint differently from automotive clear coat, and the products and process I use are matched to those conditions. Ceramic coating for marine surfaces is also available.

Do I need to come to you, or can you come to me?

Ceramic coating and paint correction require a controlled indoor environment to get the result right, so those services are completed at my premises in Cabarlah. Some detailing services can be done on location. Contact me to discuss your situation and we'll find the right arrangement.

What should I do to prepare before bringing my vehicle in?

A basic rinse is enough if the vehicle is particularly dirty. Do not apply wax or any other product before you arrive, as they can interfere with the decontamination stage. I take it from there and let you know what the paint needs after the initial inspection.
